Forman Christian College is located in Gulberg, a fashionable, quiet suburb of Lahore. The campus is near several markets, restaurants, and sporting grounds.

Lahore has been the traditional capital of Punjab for a millennium and the cultural center of what was Northern India. Lahore is known throughout Pakistan as the city of poets, artists, colleges, and parks. Lahore has the largest number of educational institutions of any city in the country and some of the finest gardens on the continent.

During Moghul rule, and particularly during the reign of Akbar the Great, Lahore was known as a 'glorious city'. Akbar made Lahore his capital. He held his Court here for 14 years from 1584 to 1598, and built the Lahore Fort, as well as the city walls with 14 gates. Most of these gates still survive.  His son, Jehangir, is buried in a mausoleum near Lahore. It is a favorite local attraction. Close by is the mausoleum of the famous Moghul Empress, Noor Jahan, known for introducing the rose plant to Asia and for initiating several cultural movements in the Sub-Continent. Noor Jahan said,

" I have purchased Lahore with my life, By giving my life for Lahore, I have actually purchased another Paradise.
"

Jehangir and Shah Jehan, the builders of the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Shalimar Gardens in Srinagar and Lahore, built palaces and tombs in the City. The last great Moghul Emperor, Aurangzeb (1638-1707) built Lahore's most famous monument, the great Badshahi Mosque.
