Italy Starts is a Peer-to-Peer Entrepreneurship Mentoring Program in English. University students (Mentors) volunteer to work with Italian High School Students (16–17-year-old) (Mentees) to solve real business problems or develop business models for their business or social venture idea.

The overall objective of this program is to encourage cross-cultural learning between undergraduate students who have had some training in entrepreneurship or business, and Italian high school students, within the broad spectrum of entrepreneurship-focused mentoring.

Students will receive training to work with Italian high school students (in English) in a 5-week team collaboration to develop a Business Plan.

Mentors will:

  • Gain invaluable cross-cultural experience with young members of the local community by acting as enablers of young talent, providing knowledge, advice and valuable insights
  • Develop life skills by encouraging and supporting younger students
  • Experience personal and professional growth by advancing their leadership, problem-solving, networking, and general communications skills
  • Help create a collaborative community

Participation in Italy Starts (25 May – 30 June). The program is online

Mentors must be available for a couple of hours per week during the 5-week online program to:

  • Guide meetings with their team on at least a weekly basis
  • Help Mentees structure and research their projects
  • Help Mentees meet deadlines
  • Provide their team with feedback and encouragement on their assignments
  • Provide final evaluations of the Mentees

Some knowledge of business planning, marketing, and elevator pitches is helpful but not mandatory.
