On Saturday 26 November 2022, 897 Bachelor of Studies (BS), 248 Postgraduate, and 1 PhD student graduated in various disciplines from Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) during a ceremony attended by dignitaries, FCCU faculty, staff, and the parents and families of the graduates. Governor of Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman was the chief guest for the occasion.
The Bachelor of Studies valedictory speech was given by Ms. Aima Kashif who graduated with a CGPA of 4.000. The Postgraduate valedictory speeches were given by Ms. Rabia Idrees and Ms. Rabia Latif. 31 named medals and 15 Postgraduate medals were awarded to students for achievements in their respective disciplines. 51 Certificates of Distinction were awarded to students scoring high CGPAs. 6 students were awarded Roll of Honor Co-curricular Awards and 14 students were presented Outstanding Student Awards in their respective departments and faculties.
In his commencement address, the Governor of Punjab, Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman congratulated the graduating class by saying that FCCU has produced leaders from all walks of life who are a part of its amazing legacy. The Governor said that Formanites have pursued different interests and subjects but the true measure of their education is the patience and love that has now taken root in them for their beloved alma mater. He added that this is the most exciting and empowering time to be alive as world-changing innovations take shape across the globe because of young inventors like the graduates who are finding ways to improve the world. He advised the students to step fearlessly into their new journey as the world has opened up for even more opportunities than before.
FCCU Rector Dr. Addleton congratulated the graduating class and told them that they were now a part of a large group of Formanites. He said that apart from receiving their degrees in front of their friends and family, there is at least one other honor that is being bestowed on them this evening, and that is their new and special status as Forman graduates. He encouraged the graduates by saying that the connections and relationships that they have made during these years provide a foundation on which they can build as they enter into the next phase of their life. He added that they are now also a part of the Forman alumni network working and contributing in every corner and continent of the world, some of them as politicians, business leaders, and entrepreneurs. Others make their marks in other important ways, building families, strengthening communities, and improving the lives of those around them but in any case, they do leave an enduring mark that helps to make this world a better place.
The degrees and medals were presented to the graduates by Rector Dr. Jonathan Addleton, Vice Rector Dr. Douglas Trimble, and Registrar Brig. (R) Dr. Nayer Fardows. Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Kauser Abdulla Malik (SI, TI, HI), Dean of Social & Behavioral Sciences Dr. Sikander Hayat, Dean of Computer and Mathematical Sciences Dr. Ahmad Mahmood Qureshi, Dean of Business and Management Dr. Rao Raza Hashim, Dean of Natural Sciences Dr. Hassan Amir Shah, Dean of Education Dr. Mehwish Raza, and Dean of Humanities Dr. Altaf Ullah Khan also presented the degrees to graduates from their respective faculties. Also present at the occasion were Associate Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Gloria Calib, Associate Vice Rector for Faculty Affairs Dr. Sufian Aslam, and Vice-Rector College Dr. Ivan Suneel.
Dr. Haroon Shakeel from the Department of Computer Sciences was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award while Lab Demonstrator Ms. Urfa Aitzaz from the Chemistry Department was awarded the Outstanding Customer Service Award (Non- Administrative) and Mr. Suleman Zaheer from the Supply Chain Office was awarded the Outstanding Customer Service Award (Administrative).
