The Department of Computer Science at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) Lahore has successfully organized and hosted its annual prestigious event COMPSPEX 2022 on Wednesday 22nd June 2022. At the event, the final year students displayed their projects and posters for the evaluation and competition. It is commendable to note that the Computer Science Senior Project Exhibition has been a ritual of the Computer Science Department of FCCU for many years. This time it was being arranged at a large scale where faculty, staff, and students from various departments were also invited.
In the exhibition, there were about 25 highly innovative software projects supervised by various faculty members of FCCU. The projects were from the domains of natural language processing, IoT, blockchain, machine learning, computer vision, image processing, artificial intelligence, games, web, and mobile application development, etc. For project evaluation, external examiners were invited from several universities like FAST-NUCES, UET, COMSATS, UMT, Educative, etc. The students received positive feedback from the external examiners for their projects. Furthermore, Mr. Aamir Chaudhary, Head of the Business Improvement department from NETSOL Technologies was invited as the guest of honor to grace the event with his presence.
In the closing ceremony, Rector FCCU Dr. Jonathan Addleton addressed the students praising their innovative, outstanding, and challenging work done to reach their goals. The Guest of Honor also appreciated the students for their brilliant performance shown and encouraged them to start their own ventures. Director ORIC Dr. Kauser Abdulla Malik appreciated the students of hard work and dedication. The Head of the Computer Science Department Dr. Aasia Khanum congratulated the whole department for making the event a success and highlighted the achievements of the students from the CS department. In the end, the best poster and best project award were announced along with a cash price of 10 and 15 thousand respectively to encourage them for their best performance. Chief organizers of this auspicious event were the people from the Computer Science department along with collaboration from ORIC (Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization) at FCCU.
