Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) mourns the loss of Dr. James Masih Shera, a distinguished FCC alumni, politician, educationist, and the former Mayor of Rugby. His life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service and community welfare.
Dr. Shera was the first Pakistani Mayor of a Midlands Town (the second nationally), a role he undertook with the utmost dedication and grace. He was a true ambassador not only between the UK and Pakistan, but also between Pakistanis and other local communities. As such, he was the very embodiment of diversity and inclusion.
In recognition of his services, Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) awarded him with an “Honorary Doctorate Degree” in 2021. The University of Bedfordshire also honored him in 2010 with an Honorary Doctor of Business and Administration. In March 2023, he received the Quaid-e-Azam Hilal Award from the President of Pakistan.
FCCU is proud of Dr. James Shera for the services he rendered for Pakistan and the international Community. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family during this time of profound loss.
