The International Psychology Conference, a premiere gathering of psychological researchers , practitioners, thinkers took place on 29th to 31st May, 2024 at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), Lahore, Pakistan. This year’s conference themed “Innovative, Futuristic, and Ethical Practices in Psychology,” promises to redefine the boundaries of psychology and mental health. The conference was so meticulously organized by Dr. Ivan Suneel ( Chief Organizer and Chairperson Department of Psychology) with Dr. Sarah Shahed as Conference Secretary.
The inaugural ceremony took place on 30th of May, 2024 and was attended by our honorable chief guests Dr. Jonathan S. Addleton (Rector, FCCU), Dr. Douglas Trimble (Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, FCCU), Dr. Sikandar Hayat (Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, FCCU), Deans of different disciplines and Heads of Administrative Staff.
Dr. Sarah, being the conference secretary, welcomed our guests and shared that the conference was organized within a span of 6 weeks and would not have been possible without the support of Dr. Addleton, Dr. Trimble, Dr Sikandar and Dr. Ivan and the department of Psychology.
Dr. Sikandar also welcomed our esteemed guests and shared the overwhelming response conference had from universities across Pakistan. He thanked the organising team for their efforts.
Dr. Trimble addressed the audience and shared that Psychology has completed a century at Forman Christian College with Mr. Rice (a psychologist) being the one of the earliest principals at Forman Christian College for the year 1942 – 1950.
Over the course of 3 days around 200 oral research presentations from all over the country were presented here at Forman and over 10 experts from various countries convened to share cutting-edge research, innovative ideas and best practices in psychology. The conference featured;
1.Dr. Daniel Christie, Dr. Laird Edman, Dr. Vincent Egan, Dr. Hanik Yoo, Dr. Dennis Vowel, Dr. Chris Evans, Dr. Jeong-ho Seok, and Dri. Patricia Omidian were some of the notable keynote speakers at the conference.
2. Two panel discussions were carried out on topics Challenges to innovative, futuristic and ethical practices of psychology and Mental Health; A universal human right.
3. Over the course of 3 days around 200 oral presentations in 28 scientific sessions showcasing the latest research and findings were presented.
4. The conference provided networking opportunities with global leaders in psychology and mental health.
