The Department of Geography marked a monumental milestone, celebrating “Mapping a Century: 100 Years of Geography 1924-2024” at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University). This centennial event brought together distinguished guests of honor the chairpersons from various academic departments across Lahore, reflecting the interdisciplinary significance of Geography in contemporary education. The day’s celebrations reflected the growth and evolution of Geography as a discipline, featuring a panel discussion (International) entitled “Georaphy: Past, Present, and Future at National and International Perspective” which served as a central highlight of the event.

Esteemed panelist and renowned scholars, Prof. Dr. Safdar Ali Shirazi, Ex-director of Institute of Geography, University of Punjab, Lahore, Dr. Salman Qureshi, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, Dr. Shakeel Mehmood Chairperson, Department of Geography GCU, Lahore, Dr. Sahar Zia, Department of Geography, LCWU, Lahore, and the session moderated by Dr. Dania Amjad, visiting lecturer, LCWU. The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing a century of academic achievement. The cake was beautifully adorned with geographical motifs and was cut by the guests of honor Dr. Jonathan Addleton, Rector FCCU, Dr. Sikandar Hayat, Dean of Social Sciences, Dr. Khadija Shakrullah, Chairperson Department of Geography alongside faculty members and students, marking a moment of unity and reflection.

 In addition to the panel and cake-cutting, the celebration also featured heartfelt student testimonials, with alumni sharing personal stories of how their experiences in the Geography department had shaped their academic and professional paths. The event also showcased a documentary that chronicled the history of the Geography department at FCCU.
