The Youth as Peacebuilders speaker series is a virtual initiative of the U.S. Mission in Pakistan to build support for Pakistani youth by reaffirming the significant role they can play in deterring and resolving conflicts. Focused on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and underscoring the need for young people’s inclusion in the peace and security agenda, this speaker series identifies youth as key constituents in ensuring the success and sustainability in peacebuilding efforts in Pakistan. Each month, the Youth as Peacebuilders Speaker Series focuses on a different theme to engage with Pakistani youth leaders and emerging voices utilizing our American Spaces platforms.
Program Title: Nature: A Peacebuilding Classroom for Young Leaders
Guest Speaker: Abdul Samad Khan, International Youth Leadership Trainer
Abdul Samad Khan (Samad) is the founder & CEO of Youth Impact, an award winning not for profit, having trained 25,000+ youth in Pakistan. Samad, a cancer survivor, who has dedicated his second life to empower youth of the world, has introduced ‘Markhor’, Pakistan’s unique wilderness based youth leadership conference held annually since 2013. Samad has conducted youth leadership trainings in the mountains, oceans, deserts and snows across five continents including in US, UK, Malaysia, Australia, Turkey, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Qatar and Pakistan. Samad is also a contributing author in ‘Adventure Programming and Travel for 21st Century’ a text book on outdoor leadership trainings published in USA and authored ‘Markhor – in the search of unseen’. Samad has corporate leadership training experience of more than 15 years, and he has trained executives from all leading multinational companies and Pakistani organizations.
