On October 17, 2024, Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) hosted a certificate distribution ceremony for the Soliya Connect Program and the Annual Advising Fair. The event was graced by Associate Vice Rector Dr. Gloria Calib and Vice Rector Dr. Douglas Trimble as chief guests and presented certificates to participants, recognizing their achievements. Dr. Atiq-ur-Rehman, the event organizer, opened with a warm welcome and shared insights into the Soliya Global Engagement Program, the significance of the University 100 course, and the best practices adopted by Freshmen Advisors. He also extended his appreciation to the faculty and student volunteers, particularly for their efforts in setting up the UNIV100 stall. Special thanks were given to Dr. Anam Muzamill for her dedication to the event.
Participants of the Soliya Connect Program reflected on their experiences. Mr. Simon and Ms. Eisha Ateeq shared heartfelt stories of how the program enhanced their understanding of global engagement and intercultural communication. Their testimonies showcased the importance of such initiatives in broadening perspectives and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
During the Advising Fair segment, Mr. Adeel Khalid discussed his role as a Freshman Advisor and his innovative use of Project-Based Learning (PBL) within the UNIV100 curriculum. He emphasized how PBL has empowered students to take ownership of their learning. Students Eman Fatima and Fatima Bilal Janjua also shared their experience organizing the UNIV100 stall, which highlighted students’ creative projects. Their contributions reinforced the value of student-led initiatives in academic events.
The ceremony ended on a celebratory note, with both students and faculty acknowledging the hard work of all involved. Dr. Gloria Calib and Dr. Douglas Trimble congratulated the participants, encouraging continued pursuit of personal and academic growth opportunities. They also commended Dr. Atiq-ur-Rehman for his vision and leadership in organizing these impactful events.
