The Office of the Dean of Natural Sciences, in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), successfully held a workshop on the Fundamentals of Research at Forman Christian College (FCCU).

Over 100 participants from various disciplines attended the workshop, designed to equip students and faculty with the essential knowledge and skills to conduct effective research.

The workshop featured presentations by renowned FCCU faculty members. It started with Dr. Hassan Shah exploration of the realm of “Research in the Era of AI”, demonstrating how Artificial Intelligence can augment the research process by analysing massive datasets, identifying patterns, and even assisting in designing efficient experiments. Dr. Sharoon Hanook presentation on “The Role of IRB in research at FCCU” highlighted the importance of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and its review process in ensuring ethical principles are upheld throughout the research journey. Mrs. Hafsah Khalid from FCCU’s library offered invaluable insights on “Resources at FCC for Efficient Literature Review“. She presented the library’s treasure trove of scholarly articles and journals, along with online tools to streamline reference and citation management, empowering participants to conduct thorough and focused literature reviews.

The workshop also delved into crucial aspects of research beyond the initial stages. Dr. Hamid Latif provided a roadmap for “How to Start Research? guiding participants on the initial steps of embarking on a research project. Dr. Saqlain Shah equipped attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective “Scientific Writing“, ensuring clear and concise communication of research findings. Dr. Seemal Jelani introduced the “Research Rabbit” tool, showcasing its functionalities and how it can streamline the research process. Dr. Shazia Ilyas addressed the crucial skill of “How to Communicate Your Work“, guiding participants on effectively presenting research findings to various audiences. Dr. Samina Mehnaz demystified the publication process in her presentation on “How to Publish Your Work“, equipping participants with the knowledge and strategies to successfully navigate the world of academic publishing.

The interactive sessions fostered a vibrant learning environment, allowing participants to engage with the experts and gain valuable insights. The Fundamentals of Research Workshop proved to be a resounding success, and the Office of the Dean of Natural Sciences and ORIC at FCCU remain committed to empowering researchers with the resources and support they need to achieve research excellence.
