Brief Profile
Dr. Ashar Ghulam Joined FCCU in Aug. 2003 as a lecturer in Mathematics, and was promoted to Assistant professor in 2009. In Aug. 2010, he won the prestigious Fulbright PhD scholar award. He also, won the Louisiana State University (LSU) Fulbright scholarship for international students for three years (2010-2013). He is member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) since 2011. He rejoined FCCU as Assistant professor in Aug. 2016. He has presentations in the American Mathematical Society(AMS) conferences in USA and the locally arranged mathematics conferences in Pakistan. He has worked with HEC to develop two quantitative skills courses for 4-years undergrad degree (general education requirement related to quantitative skills) and teacher’s manuals for these courses. His research interests include PDE’s, Riemann Hilbert problems and boundary value problems involving PDE’s, mathematical physics and Measure theory.

1). In 2023, he had given a talk at 23nd International conference on Pure Mathematics, Aug.26 – Aug. 28, 2023. This conference was arranged by Pakistan Mathematics Society and Department of Mathematics Quaid-E-Azam university Islamabad. 2). In 2022, he had given a talk at 22nd International conference on Pure Mathematics, Aug.22-Aug. 23, 2022.” This conference was arranged by Pakistan Mathematics Society and Department of Mathematics Quaid-E-Azam university Islamabad. Title of talk is “An amazing new function: everywhere continuous nowhere differentiable”
3). In 2021, he had worked on a project related to undergrad education policy 2020 (UEP 2020) with higher education commission of Pakistan (HEC). In this project, he had led HEC selected team to develop curricula for quantitative reasoning course-1(general education requirement related to quantitative skills for 4-year undergrad degree) along with teacher’s manuel.This curriculum and teacher’s manuel is available at HEC website

In 2016, he had given a presentation about boundary value problems of a special PDE in a semi-infinite strip, in Joint Mathematics meeting (organized by American Mathematical Society) Seattle Washington U.S.A. Jan. 06-09, 2016. Title of talk is “Boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation in a semi-infinite strip and the Riemann-Hilbert problem”.

6). In 2015, he had given a presentation about use of Riemann-Hilbert problem in solving a special PDE in a semi-infinite strip at American Mathematical Society sectional meeting Memphis U.S.A. Oct. 17- 18, 2015.Title of the talk is Riemann-Hilbert problem for the Helmholtz equation in a semi-strip.

In 2009, “Some results concerning Kostka-Foulkes polynomials at cube roots of unity” was presented in 5th international conference on Statistical Sciences: Mathematics, Statistics and Applications.
