Dr. Fareeha Hameed
Associate Professor
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
Extension Number: 477
Office Number: S-020
Brief Profile
Dr. Fareeha Hameed completed her Ph.D. in Physics from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. She has extensive international experience while working as a Research Fellow at Elettra Synchrotron / ICTP from 2015 to 2022 in Trieste Italy. During this time she has also collaborated with large-scale experimental facilities in Germany, Switzerland, and France. Dr. Fareeha Hameed also worked as a research fellow at Politecnico Milano, Italy. The main research topics have been Three-dimensional imaging using radiations, neutrons, and X-rays. Phase contrast microtomography and design of in-situ experiments and equipment. These advanced techniques were applied to energy and biomedical applications. Dr. Fareeha Hameed played a foundational role in the development of the Physics department at FCC while she served as the Chair of the department from 2013 to 2015. During this time the Postgraduate MPhil and PhD Programs were launched. Research Laboratories for these programs were established and new courses were designed. These laboratories were focused on materials science and nanotechnology for energy and biomedical applications. She has been working at FCC since 2003.
