Brief Profile
Dr. Ghulam Shabbir is a Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, Forman Christian College (A Chartered University). He is an HEC-approved Ph.D. supervisor and has about 30 years of experience in research and teaching with a diversified research portfolio. He has published 24 research articles in the HEC-recognized international and national economic journals including Quality & Quantity, Comparative Economic Studies, The Pakistan Development Review, The Lahore Journal of Economics, and Pakistan Economic and Social Review. In his research, he has investigated the linkages between institutions and innovation, peace and trade, institution and inclusive growth, trade liberalization and employment, corruption and growth, FDI and growth. Besides, he has also examined the issues of balance of payments, purchasing power parity, and military expenditures in his research work. His main areas of research interest are international economics, economic growth, and institutional economics.
Dr. Shabbir is also active in community services, such as being a member of the various bodies of different universities, and a reviewer/referee of international and national journals. Presently, he is working as the editor of the Forman Journal of Economic Studies and also served the said journal for more than 10 years as a Managing Editor.
