Dr. Mohammad Vaqas Ali has a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Previously, he has taught at the University of the Punjab, UMT, LUMS, University of Sargodha (Lahore Campus), and the Pakistan College of Law. He has been a visiting lecturer at the Civil Services Academy and frequently delivers guest lectures at the Police Academy (Chung).
He has worked as a consultant in two projects:(1) ‘Four Country Study (Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka) of Children Working in Brick Kilns’; (2) ‘Children Working in 12 Hazardous Sectors in Punjab’. Both were collaborations between the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Center for the Improvement of Working Conditions & Environment (CIWC&E), Punjab. Recently, he published a paper on entitlements and rights of child laborers employed in hidden hazardous sectors in Punjab. He is currently piloting a project that provides skill-based training to adolescent brick kiln workers, as part of a sustainable solution to escape debt bondage.
Research interests:
Terrorism and its coverage in the mass media, the social construction of national conflicts in the mass media, and radicalization research.
