Brief Profile
Dr. Sarah Shahed is a Professor of Psychology at FCCU since 2019. She has more than 35 years of teaching, research, counseling, and administrative experience. She has previously been the founding Director of Ruth Pfau Women Institute of Leadership and Learning, the founding Chairperson of Gender and Development Studies, and Professor of Applied Psychology at LCWU.
She is generally known as the pioneer of Health Psychology in Pakistan. Her areas of research interest include gender, health, gerontology, and well- being.
She holds a PhD in Applied Psychology (PU), M.Sc in Health Psychology(Surrey, U.K ), M.Phil in Psychology (QAU), and M.Sc in Applied Psychology (PU). She received the Best University Teacher Award by the HEC Pakistan in 2014.
She is a board member of various public and private sector bodies. She has been the Principal Investigator/ Coordinator of a three- year university partnership with Global Gender Program, George Washington University, USA. She is the author of internationally published Urban Women in Pakistan: Explorations in Health Psychology and a number of research articles.
