BRIEF PROFILE:
Dr. Shahid Rasheed has a rich and diverse range of experiences before joining academia. He did Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, LL.B. from Punjab University, M.Sc. Sociology from the University of Oxford, and PhD from UMT, Lahore. He also remained part of Civil Services of Pakistan from 1999-2008. He is also working on an alternate education model called Zaawiya Trust School that is based on the principles of holistic education, particularly for the underprivileged children of society. He has published three books Mohabat, Zameer, Inqelaab in 1998 which comprises some critical reflections in history, psychology, and sociology; An Outline of Sociology in 2002; and Muslim Attitudes Towards Political Modernity in 2022.

Sociological theory; studies of modernity; Muslim intellectual tradition; South Asian Studies; Sufism; Classical languages particularly Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Arabic, Persian, Hindi and Sanskrit.
