Brief Profile:
Nazeef Ishtiaq holds M.Phil. and B.Sc. degrees from the Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), where he graduated with distinction. He worked as a research assistant for the UNDP Pakistan’s report on Inclusive and Sustainable Development: Analytical Basis and Policy Framework (2018) after completing his Masters. He then joined the Information Technology University Lahore as a research associate, where he participated in various research projects and conducted his own original research. He has presented his work at several national and international conferences. His main research interest is to examine how countries develop their productive and technological capabilities for socio-economic development and what policy implications this has for Pakistan. His paper on Productive Capabilities and Economic Development: A Case for Industrial Diversification in Pakistan (as the lead author) was featured by the Pakistan Business Council in a report on industrial diversification in Pakistan. As a liberal arts graduate, Nazeef believes that economic development in Pakistan is a complex phenomenon that requires an inter-disciplinary understanding of different development issues and a multifaceted approach to address them. His main research and teaching objectives are to conduct new research that contributes to the development of productive capabilities of Pakistani society and to inspire the future generations to critically analyze the existing development paradigms and models and to offer new and fresh perspectives on various development challenges faced by Pakistan.
